Is Mila organic and how is it farmed?

Mila is grown with sustainable and organic farming practices. This is a healthy way of growing chia seeds that does not harm the environment, is humane for its workers, provides reasonable and fair wages and conditions for those who work on the farms, and which ultimately enhances the quality of life and goals for the farmers themselves and surrounding communities.

Lifemax is opposed to the use of any pesticides or chemicals on any crops used for Mila as well as any unnatural, processed, or synthetic fertilizer. Lifemax also views itself as a steward of the land through dialogue with its farmers and managers to ensure that there is no top soil depletion, no water contamination,  proper water management, and sustained ecological resilience. Because chia is so nutrient dense, the mulching of the left over crops contribute to soil health and fertility.

Lifemax is committed to maintaining 100% organic farming practices of all its chia seeds and is equally committed to promote sustainability practices, taking realistic steps to remedy any problems that may surface within its farming environment and conducting thorough ongoing inspections of the premium seeds it selects for it proprietary blend.

Mila is not technically organic at this time because there is a potential that some growers used fertilizer in the past, although not with current crops – therefore a very small percent, less that 3%, may be considered “organic transitional”. Further, because chia is a member of the mint family, insects never bother the crop and there is no need for chemical application. Without the risk of insect infestation, chia crops are never sprayed, which leaves no crop demand and no chance of residual pesticides on the food or in the soil. But, as an extra precaution, every harvest is thoroughly tested by independent labs to insure that it meets the rigid Mila standards.

So while Mila is grown organically, it is not certified organic at this time.

Mila vs. Chia

Many people have reported significant health upgrades consuming Mila that they did not receive while eating other chia seed brands, including us!

How is MILA different than other Chia nutritionally?
There are over 100 varieties of chia seeds.  Most of the chia brands on the market are mass produced and not tested for specific nutritional values, variety or potency, not thoroughly cleaned, and not all harvested at their peak of nutrition.
.
MILA seeds are mostly grown on small farms close to the equator where the soil is very mineral rich, and the climate and elevation is perfect to produce the most nutrient dense seeds.  Lifemax independently tests each crop to ensure that every bag of MILA has the varieties that are the highest in Omega-3′s, protein, fiber, antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals.  Not only is the Mila blend hand selected, it is also meticulously cleaned to ensure there are no stems, weed seeds or unripened seeds.
.
Lifemax is the only company that uses a proprietary cold fracturing system to open the seeds, making them easier to digest and much more bio-available -meaning the nutrients absorb easily and are utilized by our body to continuously heal and bring balance on a cellular level.  Oftentimes, whole seeds do not break down easily and therefore they move through our system without being absorbed and utilized for their powerful nutritional qualities.  Seeds that are ground in large quantities (such as ground chia sold in stores) can heat up during the grinding process which destroys enzymes (life force), causing oxidation and tremendous loss of nutrients.
