During a phone interview with Steve and Susan Szabo, it’s hard not to notice the cawing and cooing of what can only be large, tropical birds in the background. As this husband-and-wife team tells their story from their Hawaiian home, one can only imagine the life they’ve built together in paradise. Not just a beautiful house in a spectacular setting, but more significantly a strong marriage, successful business partnership, and strategic system of support. The Szabos are quick to give credit to Mila, their mentors and their rapidly-growing teams, yet recognize the importance of having each other and having a specific outlook on the industry.

Going Global – Literally

After hitting Global Director last July, the Szabos have seen nothing but growth. “We have a number of really strong leaders that have risen in our teams. And now, the most amazing thing is in the last couple of months, those leaders are doing what we taught them and we are passing on that leadership. They’re doing introduction e-mails, in-homes, one-on-ones and they’re using us for help. It has been so amazing to see how they’ve blossomed and they’re growing so beautifully. It’s exciting,” Susan said. With teams developing in Hawaii, California, Colorado, British Columbia, Toronto, Bermuda, and Australia, the Szabos have literally expanded across the globe, and have plans for even farther advancement.

“We have several executive directors and we’d love to help them hit Global, and a number of other team members get to Executive Director and so on. So what we’ve done is create a promotion for our team only that simulates activities that will cause rank advancements throughout our entire team. Primarily, it’s not about us hitting Diamond. Our end-goal is to help all of our team members advance in rank,” Susan explained. The Szabos unique promotion is four-fold, and rewards teams for achieving EAQ360, having the highest cumulative score for EAQ360s and BV, sponsoring new distributors, and rank advancing.

The happiness Susan feels as a direct result of helping teams succeed is obvious. One of her greatest joys is coaching people along the way. “I feel like we have created a family. My favorite part of the day is coaching and Skyping and answering questions and doing in-homes. I always tell people if you need to be picked up because it’s not working as easily as you thought, call me. Because for me, to lift you up and to help you feel okay; it makes me feel great. I love doing it,” she said.

Dividing and Conquering

Admittedly, Susan is a talker. A motivator. A coach. Traveling to Canada every two months to work hands-on with teams is evidence of these roles. Being around people and sharing her passion for Mila is what drives her. “A hundred people [in Canada] coming out in the middle of a snowstorm, so excited to meet Sherri and Jim and learn about the business,” is an example of what keeps Susan going. Yet she also identifies the key factor for Team Szabo is appropriately allocating responsibilities. “One of the things that makes us successful is dividing our tasks. We divide and conquer,” she said.

Steve agrees that this strategy is part of their joint effectiveness: “With her frequent trips to Canada, one of the great things is that I can do a lot of support from a distance. I can be organizing and getting things in place for events, making sure things are moving forward smoothly, and working with teams in other locations.” Susan further explains their partnership: “He does a lot of very specific coaching with people. He loves very technical EAQ360 stuff. He does a little more prospecting than I will with new people, whereas I talk to people when I’m out and about.”

Getting Back on the Bike

Talking to people while out and about has become easy for the Szabos, but they understand and empathize with new distributors encountering difficulties in the beginning.

“They’re in the trenches. Maybe they’re getting rejected, maybe they’re not getting as much positive response as they want. I use the analogy of a kid riding a bike. We know the kid’s going to be able to ride the bike, but they may have to fall off a couple of times. But because we have that big overview, we feel pretty confident in saying to them ‘We can absolutely support you and help you,’ and we help them get through those early stages,” Susan said.

Susan and Steve truly believe that “the only way you can fail is to quit.” The Szabos give a copy of Jordan Adler’s Beach Money to everyone they sign up, and tell their teams to do the same. “For the new distributor, it’s just a matter of getting better at the process. The only way to fail is to quit. It’s really easy to build their belief when we can show them all these other people on our teams who have built great success,” Steve said.

Falling in Love with the Puppy

When asked about some of the mistakes new distributors make in the beginning, Susan and Steve drew from their own experiences. “I just assumed people would fall in love with Mila like I did. It’s kind of like you have this cute little puppy and you’re walking around wanting everybody to fall in love with it, and when they aren’t interested, it’s frustrating,” Susan said. “A lot of new distributors ‘Mila, Mila, Mila’ everybody. You need to build confidence. Focus on the stories, focus on the leaders who are doing well in the business. Focus on the people whose children’s lives have been absolutely changed by this great food. Just remember that those who are saying ‘no thank you’ now, might be coming back to you in a year.”

Steve had what he describes as an “Aha!” moment that now defines his approach to sharing “Mila AND the business” with others: “If I share Mila with people and give them presentations and they learn about Mila, I can impact hundreds in my lifetime, maybe even a thousand or two. BUT if I find likeminded people who also want to improve the health of people around the world and I engage them in the process of looking at the business, THEN NOW, through exponential growth as a team, even if you’re looking at just the health benefits, we can impact thousands and then hundreds of thousands of people around the world.”

Both Steve and Susan stress the importance of speaking about Mila AND the business. “Talk from your heart. Talk about Mila AND the business. Talk about the business AND Mila. Talk about why you’re doing this. They need their belief built, so don’t take any of it personally. Keep going, keep moving, keep talking to people,” Susan said. “Not only do you want to change people’s health, but you want to change their financial situation and their community,” Steve chimed in.

Practice What You Preach

Speaking about and growing their business comes naturally to the Szabos because they believe in the Lifemax vision and Mila one hundred percent. Since Team Szabo began their journey two years ago, Susan’s health has improved considerably. She has lost a significant amount of weight, noticed an increase in energy, and feels much less hungry. Steve stated that, “the key is – because she’s eating two scoops of Mila – all of the fiber that’s regulating her blood sugar level makes her not want to eat as much as she used to.”

Susan is not afraid to share her story with others: “If Sherri [Wear] hadn’t have done what she did, and had the courage to start a business that she didn’t really need to start, or if Kimmy [Everett] hadn’t have had the courage to leave her job and do what she did in this business, I would be 40 pounds heavier, suffering from depression with carpal tunnel syndrome. We may be excited about Mila, but it takes a step out of our comfort zone to share it with others. And this step is going to change lives.”

Steve and Susan Szabo plan on changing many more lives. In 2012, they have goals of advancing to Diamond Director, helping their team members make rank advancements to Global and Executive Director, and getting 50 of their people to the ONE Conference. “We want to create a massive team.” As they enjoy having some quality time together while (finally!) at home in Hawaii, the Szabos are looking forward to the future.

Leader Spotlight: Meet Susan Caray

By Lifemax VP Marketing & Communication Jenni Smith

The Art of Relationships

“My whole platform is about relationships”

“My whole platform is about relationships,” said a vibrantly-dressed Susan Caray as she entered my office for a “quick” (I use quotes because we were shocked to learn we’d been chatting for over three hours when we finally wrapped up) interview with our newest Leader Spotlight. I would quickly learn that her proclamation was to set the tone for the entire five-part article.

“Relationships,” Susan continued without missing a beat—giving me only a moment to admire her colorful Mila leaves—inspired blouse and custom Mila pedicure (courtesy of her eldest daughter)—“are where it all started for me.”

In Your Face!

What can only be described as humble confidence poured out of this woman as she perched herself on the edge of her seat across from my desk. She was relaxed, but looked ready for anything—a phone call from her team, a prospect ready to commit, a problem to solve—and an heir about her left me feeling like I was the most important thing in the world, yet like she had a million things going on behind the scenes.

I share these observations for two reasons. First, Susan is without a doubt a face-to-face person. Sure, she fires off emails, schedules calls and webinars, and takes or makes phone calls throughout each day, but as she foreshadowed in her first sentence, relationships—especially when she can get in front of a person—are the key to her success in this business.

Second, Susan was a guinea pig for a new Leader Spotlight interview format in that our global company rarely affords this author the luxury of meeting with leaders in person, and Susan’s is the first spotlight to derive from an interview that took place with less than five feet of space between us, and you can feel a LOT of tangible energy in only five feet of space.

The Mom Card

“Mila gives me the energy to do it all”

Diving straight in, “As Diamond Director Katie Fredricksen has often said, ‘I, too, was actively disinterested in network marketing’,” Susan unabashedly admitted. “I wasn’t looking for it,” she continued, beginning to paint a picture of her shift from “never” to “now” as it pertains to her views on network marketing. But to truly understand how this mom of more than fifty kids (okay, technically, she has only four children, but she’s personally sponsored fifty-some Lifemax distributors and treats every single one of them with momma cub care) came to be Mila Chick Number One.

Susan’s priorities are clear-cut. “I am the queen nurturer. I have to make sure my friends are ok. I mom my friends all the time.” Anyone who can use the word “mom” as a verb must know a thing or two about being one, and Susan Caray is no exception. Mother to a 13-year old daughter, 11-year old twins, and a 2-year old toddler, this mom-on-the-go is about as busy as she can be. It was important to her that we highlight this point because she frequently hears, “I don’t have time for Lifemax” to which she counters with her personal story. “You can always find time to do what you love. Mila gives me the energy to do it all.”

Part Two

Last week, we posted Part One with Susan Caray, and we gave readers a chance to get to know this woman who devotes everything she has to building relationships. Today, we dive in a bit deeper to find out where Susan got her start with Lifemax, and where she’s headed…

How It All Began

“This was something BIG.”

It all started many months ago when Susan’s sister-in-law gave her a bag of Mila. “Where I’m a skeptic, she’s the product junkie,” Susan explained. “I was already a healthy eater and I don’t fall for gimmicks, but she looked amazing and I had to bite… ‘What’s that?’ I asked my sister-in-law. She gave me a bag. I didn’t try it. Instead, I gave it to three of my healthy women friends. 100% of them—all three—called me with 911 urgency asking, ‘How do I get more Mila?!’ Others felt this same dramatic effect but were concerned they were undergoing the placebo effect. My response was simply, ‘What’s wrong with that?’” Whether it’s your body or your brain that recognizes the power of Mila, all that matters is that you’re getting this food into your body. But it wasn’t until Susan’s close friend and first enrollee, Janet Keeney—who Susan teasingly referred to as a “walking pharmacy”— incorporated Mila into her daily routine and ditched her drugs that Susan realized, “This was something big.” Without Janet’s “portable pharmacy,” they could finally drive around town, spreading the Mila love, with the convertible top down.

It hit Susan at the 7- to 10-day mark. “I had energy! It was great!” She likened her experience to that of her dad’s the first time he tried the rediscovered food of the ancient Aztecs: “I had a heightened sense of well-being.” Susan went on to describe the experience as “borderline euphoric” and summed up with, “I saw everything so clearly, thanks to Mila.”

The Momentum Builds…

At this point, Susan describes herself as a distributor, but not yet committed. “I realized I needed to get bags out to friends. After that, things happened quickly. All of a sudden, I had five people wanting to sign-up and two hadn’t even tried the product! It was like pushing the easy button.” That’s when things began to take off; Susan would soon find herself engaging new people left and right (binary pun intended), all culminating in what would later be described as explosive growth for this new Lifemax leader.

Individuality Meets the Masses

“…She began to build a following of equally passionate Mila-lovers…”

Each leader we’ve spotlighted brings something unique to the table when it comes to sharing Mila. What they each have in common, though, is that they Follow the System while adding their own touch of personality to the otherwise replicatable equation. Susan’s story is no different, yet her approach is certainly not for the faint at heart. And Susan would soon discover a new-found responsibility to these Mila-lovers as she began to build a following of equally passionate Mila-lovers who would join her pursuit of a crazy new adventure.

Check back next week to find out exactly who the Mila Chicks are and what kind of attitude they have about Lifemax as we post Part Three for your reading pleasure!

Part Three

L to R: Susan Caray, Lifemax Co-Founder Jim Wear, and Christina Caldwell

The Original Mila Chick

“Susan pledges honesty and integrity above all…”

This no-nonsense gal makes it look easy, sporting her own iconic brand and winning big checks at events like the Southeast Regional, but while others delegate certain follow-up tasks or seek to maximize their time by doing large appearances rather than small in-homes, Susan Caray digs her heels in and gets to work. “Obviously, there are challenges,” she admitted. “I do a lot of the minutiae—the little things—and I don’t mind it,” especially when she is helping others build relationships. “But don’t put me in a situation where I’m about to speak at an event, and no one in the audience knows why they are there,” she firmly stated, giving me the impression that she found herself in this situation once—and only once. This leader, just like every other I’ve met in this organization, teaches her team to invite without the slightest hint of trickery or manipulation. Susan pledges honesty and integrity above all and she infects the others with that same philosophy.

The Family of Mila Chicks is Born

But who are these “others”, I wanted to know, and who exactly are these Mila Chicks I’d seen floating around ELEVATE (2010 annual conference) sporting that signature purple tank with bold white letters and a yellow chick? “I set out on my own,” Susan answered as a big smile broke out on her face, “but always had people with me.” It was successful in the beginning but now we have a triple-threat with EAQ 360 Christina Caldwell and Director Elizabeth Talmadge. It feels like Christina has always been here. She’s found a home with the Mila Chicks, and so has Beth, but anyone on our entire team is considered to be a Mila Chick.” What about the guys? Surely the men on this team wouldn’t be caught dead in the ladies tank! “We have plans for them…” she coyly answered. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the Mila men on her team have in store. (I’m personally hoping for a big reveal at this year’s annual conference, SHINE, in Vegas this October!). Despite their growing number, the Mila Chick bandwagon has room for plenty more, likely because, as Christina puts it, “Susan creates lasting, amazing relationships with people and we have fun together. It’s the environment she creates that makes people want to be with us.”

Copping a ‘Tude, Family-style

“We have an attitude!”

Susan’s team clearly focuses on their group’s family dynamic, inviting others to join in on the fun, the support, the health, and the wealth. “For us, we live it. We have Mila on the table always. We do a lot of things together. We support everyone and we help carry the load when other things are going on. We actively make a ritual of breaking out Mila in front of people. We’re such a loving group. We radiate this relationship—this family—that people want to be a part of. From early on, I could sit wherever and tell my story, exposing people to this amazing opportunity for health and wealth. If you have confidence because you know you’re giving a gift, people can tell how excited you are, and you’re going to win. It’s an attitude. And when we put on our “team uni” (the Mila Chick tank tops), we have an attitude. We’re a team. We hold our heads higher, and we’re a little prouder.”

Hearing Susan passionately describe her team ‘tude, I was reminded of my favorite quote by sales guru and positive attitude promoter Jeffrey Gitomer, “People hate to be sold to, but they love to buy.” While Susan has never once said, “I have a business I want to share with you,” she has repeatedly opened her home, her heart, and her mind to anyone who might buy in to the Mila Chick lifestyle. And believe me, after sitting with Susan for only a few hours, I’m buyin’ it!

Next week, Part Four covers the topic of culture in great detail. Learn about the Lifemax Sweet Spot, how this Chick has been turning heads from coast-to-coast, and how Susan made her big run to Global Director!

Building a Culture

“She found the Sweet Spot.”

Many Lifemaxers begin their journey being quickly assimilated into a well-functioning team. Leaders Scott & Haley Kelly, Mary & Sara, and Susan & Todd Stuart all tout the strength of their upline that inevitably led them to pursue more for themselves; they were pushed, encouraged, supported, and shown the ropes of the business by true professionals like Diamond Directors Chris & Kim Prefontaine, Katie Fredricksen, and Kimmy Everett. While the hope is that every new enrollee is blessed with that same level of mentorship, some are sponsored into the business by less active distributors. Bucking against all claims that it’s too hard to get started without an active sponsor to hold your hand, Susan Caray shot out of what she refers to as a “black hole” and began rising up through the ranks with one simple formula for success: she found the Sweet Spot.

The Sweet Spot

“When you have no lines between work and play, you are in the zone.”

Mere months after joining Lifemax, Susan Caray was in the zone. “When you’re there, you’re focused. It’s like when a great song comes on the radio and the music makes you mooove,” she said, snapping her fingers and getting down in the chair across from me. Her energy was electrifying; I could almost feel her passion creeping up from my toes. “I call it ‘the Sweet Spot’. That’s how it is for my group. When you have no lines between work and play, you are in the zone.”

Susan at ELEVATE 2010

So that’s her secret! She truly enjoys what she does so much that she can’t stop herself from doing it. It reminds me of a certain euphoria described in the epic adventure Christopher McDougall chronicles in his national best seller, “Born to Run.” And taking the analogy even further, once Susan found her Sweet Spot, she began sprinting to Global Director—which happened extraordinary fast despite having little binary depth—and never looked back.

Turning Heads from Coast-to-Coast

Diamond Director Katie Fredricksen

Meanwhile, coaching from afar and monitoring her binary team tree with care, a California-based Katie Fredricksen was nurturing several of her team members to Global status when she took note of the up-and-coming Susan Caray. Quick to recognize that Susan was on to something, Katie picked up the phone, jumped on a plane, and worked closely with Susan on several big events which generated great results.

Having covered both of these dynamic women in leader spotlights (as well as several other superstars on Katie’s team) it’s apparent that they have a great deal in common; they are natural leaders, people are drawn to them, they are passionate about living life to the fullest, and they both flourish in a community. Just read Katie’s leader spotlight (or have a five-minute conversation with her) and you’ll find all the proof you need. Whether it’s attributable to their like-mindedness or it’s simply a matter of intuition and training, Katie instinctively knew when to step in and support Susan such as when she invited Susan to participate in a momentum-driving 90-day sprint call that offered a climate for sharing and group encouragement. “It was a chance to set some lofty goals which helped me hit Executive Director,” which she did in a mere four months, “and Global Director” which she hit three months later.

Of course, Katie also knew when to simply sit back and admire Susan’s fire. The key takeaway here is that, while having an active, involved sponsor certainly can help, it’s not a necessity in the formula for success. Furthermore, with such excellent leadership in the Lifemax family, you’re sure to have someone in your upline take notice of you, as Katie did for Susan, and provide all the coaching, goal-setting, and support you need.

Next week will mark our final spotlight post in this five-week series on Susan Caray, but before we close it out, we’ll dive into the nitty-gritty of COMP PLAN. Not surprisingly, Susan has a simple approach for understanding what needs to be understood and sharing the facts with her team as she constantly reassesses her Lifemax WHY. Don’t miss Part Five next week right here on mylifemax.net.

A Student of the Business

“It pays to do your homework.”

As much as her success is attributable to her people skills, equal credit should be given to the hard work Susan put into learning the business. “I know a lot about our comp plan,” she stated, and then, without taking a breath, she continued, “How? I read it.” I took special note of her matter-of-fact-ness because we at the Home Office often receive questions about the comp plan from distributors who have not yet read the Lifemax Compensation Plan Narrative. (If you haven’t yet had the chance, now’s a good time as any to dig in!)

”I developed ‘the tree mind,’” Susan continued. “As you progress in the business, you realize how it works, and it’s not that complicated. My financial planner looked at my business and said, ‘Susan, you just created wealth regeneration!’” Key takeaway: it pays—literally—to do your homework.

Forget about Money to Make Money

“I’m all about helping others.”

Though she has a good understanding of the compensation plan, Susan uses her knowledge to make smart decisions as she builds her business, yet she never loses sight of her top priorities; sure, she’s a top earner, but that’s never been her top goal. This popped up as a recurring theme in our lengthy chat, and it was a point Susan wanted to stress. “I run this business with a focus on building relationships, dealing honestly, conveying passion, and oozing authenticity and transparency. I’m all about helping others. And you know what? It comes back to you in every way; financially, emotionally. My approach is non-threatening. It’s a conversation. It’s an exchange of ideas and life experiences. There’s no hard sell. Mila speaks for itself. Just let it work, listen a little bit, and it comes back. It really does.”

Don’t Be Afraid to
Redefine Your WHY

Before wrapping up this spotlight, we wanted to address the importance of that all-important initial step each distributor takes when they make the decision to join this business: Determining Your WHY. While each of the leaders we’ve interviewed shared a compelling reason for getting involved, Susan is the first to have boldly divulged, “My WHY has changed so many times in this process.” The Mila Chicks’ group cause is autism. From organized autism walks to fundraising and exhibitions, the Chicks have shared Mila with as many moms and dads as possible, and this endeavor fuels the team to expose the irrefutable benefits of Mila far and wide. Their passion is simply contagious.

Even Susan’s family has been infected. “My mom tells me that what I’m doing right now is so important. My husband is not only supportive; he’s introducing everyone he knows to Mila as well. Even our twins high-five when they see distributors, such as their fifth-grade teacher, hitting new ranks and truly making a life change. Sometimes, we just look at each other and ask, ‘Is this for real?’ There is something higher at work here. I know that. Other than my children, this is the most fulfilling thing I’ve done in my life.”

Picture this. It’s a beautiful California day, and you’re a fly on the wall of my phone interview with May’s Leader Spotlight: new Global Directors Sara Whiteford and Mary Barber who’ve built their Lifemax business under the clever name, Thymes Two, Inc. You’re definitely curious what these two fireballs are going to say, but you’re even more interested in hearing them say something, ANYTHING, that gives insights into how they made the breakneck speed rise to Global in such a short amount of time, and then you hear the words you’ve been waiting for from Mary: “Well, we don’t hit each other anymore.”

Cue the laughter, folks, because that’s exactly how this call started! But not to worry, we are about to dive into four weeks of the true (work-related) confessions you’ve been waiting for. Grab your Super-charged Mila smoothie and get ready for a rollercoaster ride because you’re about to hear the ups, the downs, and the in-betweens of running a world-class Lifemax organization, twin-style!

Finding Balance

“I’m looking for balance in my life…”

“I have so much respect for Sara and her opinions,” commented Mary, shortly after the laughter began to subside. “We’re constantly offering up advice in the interest of making each other stronger and better. We’re not afraid to disagree.” As we’ve discussed in several of our recent spotlights, the theme of ACCOUNTABILITY reared its head instantly. “It’s the greatest thing ever to have your identical set of genes next to you,” agreed Sara. “I’m not sure I could have done this without her.” Mary clearly agreed, adding: “I think this business is so full of ups and downs that it’s nice to have someone you’re in partnership with to bring you up when you’re down and level you out when you’re over-the-moon excited. I’m looking for balance in my life and we balance each other out. All in all, we can focus on the positive and stay above board when the challenges get tough.”

There’s That Word Again: Accountability

“It doesn’t have to be your twin sister; anyone you like and respect could be the right match.”

“I know everyone says ‘accountability’…blah blah blah…but it is so true,” stated Sara. Over the last few months, we’ve heard from what we’ve called our “Power Couples” and we’ve focused on how family units like the Kellys and the Stuarts find accountability both within and beyond their marriage. Mary and Sara shared a very similar path to finding the right type of accountability partner as Mary says, “You need someone that has the conviction and passion that we both have. When you have two people who feel that strongly and are working together, it almost triples. It doesn’t have to be your twin sister; anyone you like and respect could be the right match.” Sara agreed, adding: “Positivity in an accountability partner is key,” to which Mary replied, “Yes, you’re looking for people with the glass overflowing; not the glass half-empty. I choose to surround myself with people who share my optimism. I think we’ve learned in this business that positive attracts positive and that’s what this business demands. I look for people who are open to growing and open to a new business opportunity.”

Check back next week to read about 2 mamas, 5 kids, and a whole lot of juggling!

Get Out Your Hat Rack

You’ve no doubt heard this piece of advice as a Lifemax Independent Distributor. While searching for that delicate balance in life (which we discussed in our first post with the twins), you should be prepared to play several different roles as a business owner. Sara and Mary, for example, wear many hats in their lives. This week, we explore their world while delivering practical tips for following in their success.

“Our goal…is to be wildly successful while being present with our family.”

Chief among Mary and Sara’s most precious responsibilities is the Mom role, though they also balance the jobs of wife, chef, culinary consultant, and author of 8 cookbooks. “Our goal for the year,” they shared, “is to be wildly successful while being present with our family.” For the twins, this means they have learned to multi-task less by becoming more laser-focused on revenue-producing activities.

“I am NOT DISTRACTED by the rest of life.”

”Mary and I really made a concerted effort for time-blocking. For me, it’s been essential in this business as it relates to productivity. I’m now more disciplined with my time. I shut the door when I’m working on my Lifemax business so I am NOT DISTRACTED by the rest of life.” Sara strongly agreed, adding, “I believe that if you’re multi-tasking, it dilutes your…” and in true twin form, Mary completed the sentence with, “…your ability to be effective.” Well-said, twins!

Consistency is King

“Sharing the product and opportunity simply becomes second nature.”

Not only is it important to dedicate sufficient time to your Lifemax business, but you also need to work your business consistently, meaning that you should be putting in time—even if only a little bit—as many days during the week as you possibly can. Mary defines consistency in this context as “making sure you perform the same patterns of activity every day.” “In the beginning,” she admitted, “I was more sporadic. Now, I get into a rhythm.” Mary went on to provide the example that if you only have five hours per week to dedicate to your Lifemax business, you should try to get a highly productive hour out of each weekday rather than saving a full 5-hour chunk of work for your busy weekend. The twins strongly encourage distributors to make your time-blocking automatic, which Sara likens to personal habits we find routine, or automatic, such as brushing your teeth. “Because I consistently spend time on my Lifemax business each day,” Sara explains, “I live and breathe it, so when I’m at [my kid’s] school and run into one of the moms, MILA is on my mind, and I can easily start up a conversation about it. Sharing the product and opportunity simply becomes second nature.”

A Practical Approach to Dealing with Life’s Distractions

”In this day and age,” Mary said, “Someone is texting you, Skype-ing you, emailing you all the time. It’s hard to put all of this aside and focus, but you have to remove the excess clutter…” [Sara added, “And the noise!”]. The twins then proceeded to carefully distinguish between merely being productive and actually staying on task. Being productive means they are checking off “life-list” items that must get done, such as paying bills, folding laundry, going to the grocery store, or pruning in the garden. If undisciplined, these sorts of chores can easily consume an entire day, but time-blocking and focusing on revenue-producing activities is what is a successful distributor should strive to do. (In a later conversation, and in true twin fashion, Mary and Sara added, “Now, this doesn’t mean that you can’t talk to the dry cleaner receptionist about Mila when you are picking up your clothes!” Good point, ladies!)

Being productive is typically considered to be a good thing, and yet they clearly differentiate between productivity and staying on-task, by which they mean staying laser-focused on Lifemax activities and saying “NOT NOW” to the gardening and lunch-packing during those hours earmarked specifically for Lifemax business-related tasks. These two took the time to essentially perform an audit of their daily lives and realized they were being productive most of the time, but yet weren’t making enough progress in their Lifemax business. Consequently, they’ve had a major shift and now insist on staying on-task during Lifemax hours, and they strongly recommend you learn from their lesson!

As we move into our third week spotlighting Sara and Mary, it’s hard to imagine these ladies having any trouble sharing Mila. They sure do make this business look easy, don’t they? Next week, we’ll dig into some of the obstacles they’ve encountered and they’ll share usable tips you can apply to overcome similar roadblocks, but for now, it’s time to find out how they attract others into this business with the goodness of nature’s most perfect whole, raw food: Mila!

Have Mila? Will Travel!

“There are NO BOUNDARIES for Mila!”

From prospecting in the carpool lane to schmoozing at kids’ birthday parties, these ladies never miss an opportunity to share a smile and a bag of Mila. “We have shared our Lifemax business on playgrounds, at the yoga studio, during cocktail parties, on airplanes, and…” Mary let out a giggle as she admitted (proudly), “Even at a student-teacher conference! There are NO BOUNDARIES for Mila; we make it a part of our everyday lives.”

“Mary and I live it, breathe it, and love it,” Sara added, referencing a familiar concept she and Mary both appreciated having learned from industry guru Jordan Adler, “And the more you love it, the more it comes to you. I never like to think of myself as chasing, but rather as attracting people, and that can happen absolutely anywhere.”

Shhh! It’s Time to Listen.

“My biggest tip for sharing Mila,” divulged Mary, “Is to connect with other people and listen to them. Through listening and connecting consistently, you establish a rapport, and once you’ve done that, it opens the door for a conversation around Mila.”

“It’s most important to come across as genuine and authentic.”

In the beginning, Sara felt she made a lot of mistakes by “shoving Mila into the chests of people who didn’t want it.” Since then, both twins agree that “this business has made us better listeners.” They now ask questions in a genuine way, and then simply wait—as long as it takes— for an opening. To that end, Sara shared, “I’ll listen for weeks or even months before I ever mention Mila if I have to. It’s most important to be genuine and authentic.”

Goodbye Béchamel and Butter. Hello Health!

Cooking for other people has always been at the core of Mary and Sara’s existence. But with a wealth of classical French culinary training under their belts, becoming passionate about the concept of “food as medicine” was quite a shift for Mary and Sara. In the midst of writing their third smoothie book, the twins honed in on omega-3s and began to move “from béchamels and butter sauces to goji berries and hemp seeds.” In no time at all, the twins found themselves eating whatever they could find at the local health food stores, but it wasn’t until they were introduced to Mila that they experienced what Sara called “a complete transformation.”

“It’s about eating healthy and clean living.”

As Mary explains it, “Beginning to enjoy functional foods (super foods) heightened our belief that food is medicine. The proof is in the pudding. You are what you eat. Feeling optimal is of utmost importance. I’m into preventative health, not just treatment, and our world needs to adopt that philosophy. For Sara and me, it’s about eating healthy and clean living. We’ve grown so much with Lifemax from a food standpoint. We enjoy nourishing people with this whole, raw food, and we truly love the idea of helping people become healthier. I feel privileged getting to wake up in the morning and share this product,” to which Sara added, “and this opportunity.”

Throughout the leader spotlights we’ve produced, we’ve often addressed how distributors find a way to transition from a typical “day job” to building a Lifemax business. In our fourth and final Mary & Sara post, the twins reveal the truth about how a single shift in attitude ultimately delivered them into the holy grail of true independent business ownership.

The Transition

“I’m as passionate about the network marketing business model as I am about the product.”

When Mary and Sara initially began to transition from cookbook authorship to their newfound life at Lifemax, Sara reports that, “I had to tell people I was involved in MLM (multi-level marketing) and, truthfully, I would get a lump in my throat because I was embarrassed! Over time, however, we’ve learned so much, we’ve become students of the industry, and now I’m as passionate about the network marketing business model as I am about the product. It’s really deepened my belief. Becoming a student of the industry has been paramount. When you get a dry throat over [the topic of ‘opportunity’], you’re not going to attract people. You have to come from a place of abundance; not hesitation.”

How They Got Started

If you haven’t figured it out by now, Mary and Sara shoot from the hip as is evidenced in Mary’s simple metaphor: “People are just like dogs! They can SMELL your fear!” After a giggle and nod of agreement, Sara added that people “sense vulnerability and your lack of commitment.” The two strongly advocated that each distributor “gain the convictions you need to project enthusiasm with authenticity. We have created a community of success-minded, health-minded people,” and then almost in unison, “People want to be a part of that.” Admittedly, these ladies both agree that it takes time to create that community, but “it’s about hanging in there when the going gets tough. It’s about believing in yourself and the product.” Mary insists that, “You have to keep educating yourself,” while Sara cautiously adds, “it’s just the beginning, but that’s the most exciting part.”

Blowing Through Your Own Obstacles

“Learning is so empowering!”

Hard as it is to believe, Mary once feared speaking in public. A year ago, neither of these ladies had a smart phone as Mary admits, “All we knew how to do on a computer was write books.” Becoming students of the industry—and developing a deep-seated passion for the product, the Mila community, the Lifemax World Vision, and the unique network marketing business model—has deepened Mary and Sara’s belief and unequivocally set them up for success. Having pushed through their fears, Mary now believes “all of this learning is so empowering! I’m stronger, more effervescent, and more attractive for it,” to which Sara added the exclamation point with a simple, but hearty, “yeah!”

Going Global

As Mary and Sara describe it, the road to Global Director was, well, less of a road, and more of a tractor-plowed pathway ready for the fruitful seeds of success to be planted. To the twins, the journey was analogous in many ways to a farmer’s investment in a quality crop. As Sara described her long-term approach to how she handles this business, “We are sprinkling Mila seeds now for a harvest down the road.”

“I’m an antioxidant dealer.”

Mary began to respond with, “My mama…” but was quickly interrupted by Sister Sara who sarcastically squealed, “YOUR mama?!” And then, after the laughter from all three of us subsided, “…OUR mama,” Mary quickly clarified, “once asked me what I was doing with this business, so I told her I was a farmer. Now when asked, ‘what do you do?’ I simply answer, ‘I’m an antioxidant dealer.’” She went on to explain that, “We can’t take it personally when people say ‘no’; we can’t berate ourselves.” Instead, the twins identify with the long-term strategic thinking of a farmer who spends the necessary amount of time to till the ground, plant the harvest, cultivate it over time, and harvest the fruits of their labor when ready. “There’s an ebb and flow to this business,” explained Sara. “Persistence and patience are a must. I do NOT like to be pushy. Remember, it’s all about relationships; they are the glue to it all. The more prospects you have in the funnel, the less painful it is when you hear a ‘no’. If you have planted enough seeds, you’re not as preoccupied with radio silence. At the end of the day, energy attracts energy, so the more you plant, the more comfortable you become with exercising patience!” And that’s exactly how they handle this business.

So before we bid adieu to our classically French-trained culinary experts, we will reveal a few of Mary and Sara’s parting secrets, Q & A style, to help you build a business with TWICE the reward you ever hoped to achieve.

In-homes! In- homes?

“We love in-homes. No meeting is too small! Meeting with your prospect face-to-face (or a phone call, if you’re distance-challenged) is the golden standard.” —Sara Whiteford

Leadership Calls. Are you IN or OUT?

IN! “Leadership calls are so important. In fact, the community is of utmost importance, and leadership calls are a great way to learn while connecting. Remember Adler’s mantra, “attract, don’t chase.”—Mary Barber

Jordan Jordan Adler Adler – Favorite Concepts?

“There are two philosophies of Adler’s that resonate so well with us. The first is that relationships are the glue to this business. The second mantra is, ‘attract, don’t chase.’” —Sara Whiteford…uh…or Mary Barber (It was definitely one of them!)

What Is Most Appealing to You about Lifemax’s World Vision?

“We feel so aligned with the company. This vision fuels us every day. We love empowering people, supporting people, and knowing that Mila supports so many impoverished communities. Mary and I both agree that while personal success is fulfilling, it’s even more fulfilling to help others create his/her own success. We are rooting for our distributors. Collective success is so powerful.”—Sara Whiteford

Ever Make an Appearance in a Wrigley’s Doublemint® Gum Commercial?

Um, no. (Had to ask, though, right?!)

So You’ve Hit Global. What Drives You Now?

“Mary and I did a biz opp for ONE PERSON whose single goal was to provide a better life for her daughter. She was deeply committed to this goal, and since then, we’ve developed a beautiful relationship. I was doing cartwheels in my kitchen when she signed up her first gold distributor. When she got that gold, it was better than hitting global.” Mary added, “I couldn’t sleep that night! Seeing our distributors succeed is so important! We’re prospering from their prosperity—it’s all circular—but I genuinely love witnessing downline success as much as my own. At the end of the day, we’re all trying to help people which ultimately helps ourselves.” “Yeah,” Sara agreed, “I think empowering people to change their health and wealth empowers them which empowers me. I barrel out of bed on that note! That really drives me.” —The Thymes Two Twins

Having written these monthly spotlights to highlight top Lifemax leaders for the past year, I’ve grown accustomed to being able to judge how the interview is going to go from the first words out of the leader’s mouth. Conferencing Todd and Susan Stuart together on my iPhone during a busy Friday afternoon to tap their energetic minds, I got my first clue into what was in store for this Leader Spotlight. Here’s a hint: Todd answered (the usual southern drawl fully kicking) with, “Dominos Pizza! What can I get ya?” Now THIS is going to be good, I thought to myself. And the next hour and a half did not dare disappoint.

We jumped from one topic to the next covering all of the things Todd and Susan felt were contributing factors to their rise to superstardom (though their humility keeps them from recognizing themselves as such). As we’ll share with you below, there are quite a few things that help the Stuarts keep one foot on the ground while reaching for the stars. This couple is truly on a mission to share the opportunity for health and wealth with everyone they meet—even those who initially seem to be a ‘Doubting Thomas’. We hope you enjoy this special peek into the lives of Todd and Susan Stuart who are…ahem…brand new GLOBAL Directors!

Starting with the most basic question, why are you in this business?

“It’s fun!” exclaimed Susan, “We are fueled by our passion for the product and by our love for people. At this point, we owe it to everyone to tell them how great Mila is!” Todd added, “Mila has unexpectedly become the foundation for a healtheir lifestyle for me. I’ve really opened my eyes and ears to the importance of nutrition, and because of that, I want everyone to know about Mila and the choice to be healthier.”

What’s the biggest strategy you introduce to your teams, and why does it work?

“I’m constantly thinking about the diamonds in the rough.”

“It’s all about helping people expand their horizons, grow together, have fun together, and be held accountable,” said Susan. “They like thinking they might one day be a leader, and I’m constantly thinking about the diamonds in the rough we are seeing emerge.” Susan went on to explain the 90-day sprint calls they participate in and how much those calls benefit their team. The concept of accountability is ingrained in the “Sprint” calls, and we’ve touched on it in these leader spotlights before with the Kelly family and others, so it was no surprise to hear this recurring theme pop up. “We expanded that accountability role to this group,” recounts Todd. “The 90-day sprint calls are giving people a greater sense of value with Lifemax, and when they have that, they want to do more with it.” “And I can stay connected without hovering,” added Susan as she explained how sharing accountability with call participants works. “We switch moderators giving everyone an opportunity to host at least one weekly call during the 90-day sprint. The host provides the agenda, runs the call, and spends extra time preparing for the topics we’ll discuss that day.” Not only does this give each participant an opportunity to run the show and learn what it feels like to have others hold you accountable, but it takes pressure off of the leaders who were previously doing all the planning themselves.

Tune in next week as we dive deeper into accountability, good decision-making, and how our new Global Directors, the Stuarts, grow their business without letting it “fall flat on its face!”

Part Two with the Stuarts!

As promised, we are ready to dive deeper into the story behind how our new Global Directors, Todd and Susan Stuart, grow their business without letting it “fall flat on its face!” In our second of four posts on this power couple, we’ll ask two of the toughest questions yet. Will the secrets they reveal inspire you to build a bigger business? There’s only one way to tell…

Talk to us about working together. Do you hold each other accountable in this business?

“We’re holding on, holding strong, and holding each other accountable,” said Todd, which got a chuckle out of Susan and me. “Todd’s right,” Susan said, picking up where her husband left off, “Early on, Todd and I saw our legacy to be two-fold; we were a husband and wife team, and we were starting our own small business to seek out—and reach out to—other couples to teach them how to do the same. Having a partner in the business makes it a lot more fun and easier to be successful.” Susan remembers exactly how she came to learn this valuable piece of advice: “Mary and Sara (Susan’s cousins who are also Lifemax Independent Distributors) spoke on a Go Diamond call about accountability partners and that’s why I grabbed Todd and said, ‘You’re going to do this with me.’”

But the Stuarts issue fair warning to couples who join this business and are seeking out a Lifemax accountability partner: “Don’t choose the person you’re sitting on the couch with!” They went on to explain that they work together as a team and certainly hold each other accountable to the extent that any married couple could, but that reaching outside of your marriage to find another accountability partner is the right move.

What’s the best decision you’ve made for your business since becoming a distributor?

“I had to delegate efficiently…to continue the quality of life I had with my family…”

“Hire someone to do what you’re not good at,” Susan answered without missing a beat, “so you can focus on what you ARE good at!” Todd and Susan quickly agreed that the best decision they’ve made so far in this business (and trust me, they’ve made a LOT of good decisions so far) was hiring Carrie Lucado. “Minutiae is not my thing,” admitted Susan. “My children and my family come first. I had to delegate efficiently in order to continue the quality of life I had with my family, and Carrie was the solution.” Carrie, who had a personal relationship with the Stuart family before they were introduced to Lifemax, began using her babysitting money to purchase a bag of MILA once she had her first taste of this superfood. Since then, she’s worked more and more closely with the Stuarts to help with business administration, accounting, and providing follow-up with new distributors and prospects which is so important. This has not only helped her to build her own distributorship, but also frees up Susan and Todd to continue high-level training, events, and growing their business. “Fostering Carrie’s success is something we are passionate about,” shared Susan, “and without her, our business would fall flat on its face.”

Be sure to check mylifemax.net next Wednesday when we post the third of four posts in this Leader Spotlight which will address prospecting, tapping into upline leadership, and mentoring downline team members.

Part Three with the Stuarts!

Sandwiched between her cousins Sara Whiteford and Mary Barber (and proudly sharing the same newly achieved title of Global Director), this beaming southern belle, Susan, and her beau, Todd, will address the hot topics of prospecting, tapping into upline leadership, and mentoring downline team members in this week’s Leader Spotlight.

You mentioned reaching out to couples in an earlier question. Who else do you specifically seek out?

“We love meeting new people, finding out who they are, what they do, and what they want! Do they regularly exercise? Are they entrepreneurial? What are their interests? We like to peel the layers back, find common interests, and bring Mila into the conversation organically.” There is a great deal of strategy that goes into the Stuart family’s prospecting plans (which has worked wonders on business professionals from police officers to veterinarians to athletes and beyond). “We brainstorm a lot with respect to individuals or markets where we think MILA has a nice fit,” explained Susan. “You have to get out of your own sphere of influence and play in other sandboxes. Having a simple conversation with someone, finding out who they are and what they do, and introducing them to Mila and Lifemax just becomes automatic.”

Where should new distributors turn for help getting started in this business?

“Tap into your upline,” Susan exclaimed. The Stuarts have had great success in reaching up to top leadership, and they’ve been pleasantly surprised with how accessible the top earners in this company have made themselves to anyone needing help. Not only are leaders a great resource for help in getting started, but they are an excellent source for behavior modeling as Susan points out that, “You can become a leader and place your mark on Lifemax yourself because this company is looking for break-out superstars, rising stars, and the usual leadership traits found in the network marketing books we’ve read.”

If new distributors should turn to their upline, what should leaders do for their downline?

“Susan and I have a real desire to do everything we can to make our distributors and their teams successful,” said Todd. “Keeping the lines of communication open is so important. Follow-up is so important. We try to do our best to make sure our team has the best chance they can possibly have at success in their business as long as they put in the effort. It’s a minimum two to three year commitment.”

What kind of approach works best for you?

“…Our ‘fun job’ is our whole raw food business.”

The Stuarts have grown to love Mila and the business they share together so much that approaching prospective customers and distributors is a daily routine. Nine months in the business, they now reach out to anyone and everyone whenever possible to introduce Mila and their whole raw food business. When asked what line of work they’re in, the simple reply is, “Our ‘real jobs’ are practicing law and engineering, but our ‘fun job’ is our whole raw food business.” Todd laughed as he recounted, “Susan almost ran into a cop one day, and the next thing you know, he had a Mila brochure and DVD in his hand before they parted.” Even more important than the approach, however, is the takeaway. “When asked, ‘Where can I get more of that?’ we simply say, “We’ll get it for you.” The relationship is born, the Mila is being shared, and the business opportunity will soon follow.

Come on back for a wrap-up on the Stuarts next Wednesday! Susan will explain why ‘Come if you want to’ just doesn’t work, and Todd will…pump your gas?! Hmm…you might want to tune in to find out what that means! Don’t miss Part Four with the Stuarts!

Part Four with the Stuarts!

This beautiful family looks like they are ready to take the world by storm, don’t they? Global Directors Susan and Todd Stuart are ready to wrap-up their four-week Leader Spotlight by providing you with a practical plan to make the most of events, success tips for getting the most enjoyment out of your Lifemax business, and a few shout-outs for good measure. Take it away, Stuarts!

You make it look easy, but what challenges do you face in this business?

The Stuarts confess to never being completely satisfied; their work is never done. “There’s always more you can do—more prospecting, more training—so there is never that sense of completion,” Susan explained. “Diamond Director Katie Fredricksen’s 90-day sprint call has taught me to have action-oriented/task-oriented goals rather than measuring success by end results alone, because end results are out of your control. To have that sense of accomplishment makes me happy so that I can feel like I’m doing what I’m supposed to, I’m reaching my goals, and I don’t have to beat myself up.” Todd, a man who puts people at ease with his warm, light-hearted humor, quipped, “My goal for this week is to find someone to approach with ‘Can I pump your gas and tell you about Mila?’” Humor aside, that’s exactly how Susan and Todd handle this business. They’ll talk to anyone, they’ll make friends with everyone, and they stick to their goals. Susan’s goal-setting formula? Each day, she reaches out to three new prospects, follows up with two or more from the previous week, places one downline call, and rounds out the day by dropping three reminders on upcoming event attendees to ensure they show up.

On that note, can you tell us more about driving event attendance?

Susan and Todd have a simple formula for increasing event attendance. “‘Come if you want to’ just doesn’t work; people need a process to sink their teeth into,” said Susan. “Each person we invite to our next event receives a Save the Date call, a flyer with a hand-written note in the mail, and a text or email the day before the event. It’s simple, but it works. It shows we want that person to be there and their attendance matters to us.”

Can you share any additional success tips for our readers?

“Do NOT pre-judge!”

“Include your children in the business,” the Stuarts suggested. “It doesn’t take away from time with [Sally, 10 and Henry, 7] when you simply include them!” Todd also suggested having a “pointed, focused attention; no crazy multi-tasking but instead, deeper, more productive, more focused work.” And both Todd and Susan wanted to be sure to add, “Don’t pre-judge!” That particular tidbit of advice was a recurring theme throughout the interview, and as is evidenced in the anecdotes above (from cops to carwashes and everywhere in between), you just never know who might be interested in joining you to Change the Health and Wealth of the World.

Shout-outs!

The Stuarts asked to give a shout-out to a few Lifemax leaders (Diamond Directors Chris Prefontaine and Katie Fredricksen, Global Directors Rachel Garcia, Mary Barber, and Sara Whiteford), to Carrie Lucado, our Lifemax Founders, and the Home Office team.

This month’s Lifemax Spotlight Leader is Dwight Agnor. Dwight is on a mission to change Asia, one bag of Mila at a time, and while he is 13 hours ahead of the Home Office, he is leaps and bounds ahead of many industry networkers out there because of his passion, tenacity, and heart. In a unique approach to this month’s spotlight, Lifemax VP Communication Jenni Smith writes her personal take on what makes Dwight tick in our spotlight below.

Getting In

“I have never been an MLM person, never been involved, and never wanted to be,” proclaimed Dwight at the beginning of his YouTube video message to me. With a thirteen-hour time difference, Dwight’s video messaging is one of several ways he’s learned to bridge the international gap without missing a beat in networking and communication. “The only reason I’m involved in Lifemax,” Dwight continued, “Is because I believe this product is the best I’ve ever seen in my life, and network marketing is the greatest and fastest way of doing that.”

Admittedly, this is not the first time I’ve heard these words from a Lifemax distributor, but they still carry a bit of surprise each time they’re uttered. Our Lifemax family is full of what I now affectionately term, “pre-Mila network marketing skeptics” because these very individuals who are creating sustainable success patterns are the ones who wouldn’t give network marketing a second thought until they were introduced to Mila. I myself was a pre-Mila skeptic before Lifemax came into my life, but that’s another story for another day.

“I feel a moral obligation to do what I’m doing.”

As a personal member of the Agnor fan club ever since he showed his chivalrous side while carrying my gala dress out to my car after ELEVATE 2010′s Sunday leader-led training, I jumped at the chance to help share Dwight’s story with the field. After all, I’ve been closely following his progress since he proclaimed his lofty plans to generate huge growth in Southeast Asia, and it’s been a privilege to watch him do exactly that. In fact, his video message uncovers that he’s shared Mila with hundreds of people so far, and that those have gone on to share Mila with many others. The result? For Dwight, “The lives that have been affected — changed dramatically — is overwhelming, and it’s just my passion. I feel a moral obligation to do what I’m doing.”

Staying In

Whether you have the privilege of meeting Dwight face-to-face and get the occasional personalized video message, or you just have the opportunity to exchange a few emails or Skype calls across time zones, getting to know Dwight Agnor is akin to packing a picnic for a long drive in the country only to find that you’ll instead be taking the high-speed rail to an unknown fairyland with Captain Happy as the daily tour guide. What I mean by that is that he presents himself as a polished, yet comfortable, professional networker without being intimidating or in-your-face, but somewhere between a handshake and a hug, his incredibly vibrant passion explodes, and you’re instantly taken under his wing and into his whirlwind world of getting things done, Dwight-style. He’s fast-moving but smooth; quick-witted but humble; and he’s got a tenacious spirit that is simply contagious.

And on that subject, Dwight commented that, “Tenacity is what makes anyone a successful person. There have been many times I wanted to throw my hands up in the air, but I just get back up and hit it again and again because I have learned in life that tenacity is the difference between winning and losing.” Without any pressing, Dwight volunteered (with a smile on his face) a story of one such experience where he not only wanted to throw his hands up in the air, but his computer out the window! After months of work on a social media project, he lost his entire account along with all the connections and contact information he’d gathered. But even that couldn’t stop Dwight, pictured to the left with Lifemax CEO Paul Rogers.

“Tenacity is the difference between winning and losing.”

Never one to let any situation get him down, Dwight shared with me that he got right back on that horse again. He explained that it’s always disheartening for him to see distributors give up when they have the slightest bit of discouragement or don’t see the money rolling in overnight. In fact, he practices candor and transparency with his prospects from the beginning, stating, “If that’s the way you feel, don’t get involved! This is a long-term, every day investment in your life, maybe not full-time, but every day. Your mind has to be involved and you must have the tenacity to make a commitment that you are going to do this for the next four or five years of your life, every day.” In addition to maintaining daily responsibilities to his team and his customers, Dwight has been building his business by traveling between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore once a week (a five-hour bus ride each way) since he arrived. He plans to add Jakarta to his weekly travels as well, commenting: “I have never seen an opportunity like this in my entire lifetime. I want to win BIG in Asia! And I believe that leaders must lead by example. I am trying to set an example to my leaders and other distributors that this is what it takes to win big!”

The College Analogy

Dwight shared a very interesting analogy with me that I wanted to be sure to pass along. He began with the obvious, stating, “No one goes to college thinking they’ll just try it for a few months and see what happens. No one expects great results in a few months. People go to college knowing they’re going to have to spend time and money—a few years at a minimum—and they’re going to graduate, often owing a lot of money, and often with no job!” On the other hand, he went on to explain, “If you put the same amount of time and concentration into this opportunity, you’re making money the entire time but at the end of four years when you ‘graduate’, you’re so far ahead of the game.” Well said, Dwight.

Santa Dwight

Before closing out this leadership spotlight, I have to share one last story. Torn between spending his first Christmas away from family and his dedication to his Southeast Asia post, Dwight made the sacrifice to spend his holidays in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He and his team went to a local church service where they learned of a woman who’d taken 18 abused children into her small, meager home. Driven to locate this pseudo-orphanage and bring Christmas to these children, Dwight and his group rallied to deliver presents to each and every child, with Dwight dressed as Santa, to boot! And in true Lifemax style, the team shared Mila with the under-nourished children by adding it to the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and more which they brought along to share. This was a Merry Mila Christmas to be sure.

The Team Players

Dwight also wanted to give special thanks to his incredible team who have worked tirelessly to open up a new training center in Malaysia, develop intense training curriculum and soundly structured materials, and share Mila with the world: Jet, Carol, Samantha, and Jacqeline — the Southeast Asia Superstars! To date, Dwight’s team has enrolled over 500 Lifemax distributors in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Jakarta (Indonesia), and will soon be posting business opportunity presentations and training sessions open to ALL Lifemax distributors. This team takes pride in treating all distributors and their guests with dignity and respect, so look for new opportunities to explore Southeast Asia with Dwight’s team soon!

This dynamic duo joined Lifemax just seven months ago, yet they have wasted no time in building an impressive, sustainable business. The secret to their success? They keep things simple by leaning on Lifemax leadership, following The System, and leveraging each others’ greatest strengths. This month, we proudly spotlight the Kelly Family and invite you to join us as we peek inside their business from a bird’s eye view, and chronicle their foray into the world of network marketing. Because they have so many gems to share, this post is the first of three!

The Paradigm Shift

For the past 18 years, Scott Kelly has been saying, “No.” As an integrative health and wellness practitioner whose specialties include athletic and neuromuscular therapy and functional diagnostic nutrition, Scott’s Utah-based office has been attracting solicitous network marketers on a weekly basis for the last two decades. Whether he was approached with a sub-standard product or a lackluster opportunity, Scott says, “Network marketing was never something I wanted to be involved in—mostly because I didn’t know what it was. I didn’t understand it.”

“The whole industry is different, and it’s just because of what I didn’t know!”

Haley, Scott’s wife and partner, echoes similar sentiments, saying, “I think I’m not alone in that I had a preconceived notion of what network marketing was.” She admits once having an earnest fear that friends would run the other way out of fear of being “sold” on something. “Now that I understand what this is really about,” says Haley, “the whole industry is different, and it’s just because of what I didn’t know!”

It wasn’t until a client’s father walked into their practice carrying a mysterious purple package that Scott experienced a hard-hitting paradigm shift which inevitably led him and Haley to join Lifemax and begin a journey to shift paradigms for countless others across the world.

“I never looked at this industry as being the fastest way to get a product into the hands of people all over the world,” says Scott. “That just never occurred to me. As I began to see how this works and how we could get Mila into millions of hands across the world, it really inspired me. Sure, I could sell hundreds of bags out of my office, but my life goal is to help people shift their health. Now I see how I can help them shift their wealth as well.”

The Kellys bring another interesting industry fact to light as Scott says, “Network marketing will shine a light on your weak spots rapidly. You can either develop them or find a resource—someone to complement you—so you can fill the gap. You have to first pinpoint the weakness, and then respond to it. This was another huge paradigm shift! I thought it was about talking people into buying things they didn’t want, but it’s about giving them the opportunity to change their lives, their health, and their wealth.”

“I can’t imagine life without it.”

When the Kellys first enrolled as Lifemax Independent Distributors, they made a pact. Considering their hometown (Utah) is often touted as the network marketing capitol, and that the Kellys are surrounded by many who have not enjoyed success in this industry, they decided, “We were not going to become a statistic!” Instead, they chose to create a culture of fun; to host in-homes for those who wouldn’t normally look at a network marketing company. As Scott remembers getting started, “People would show up and say, ‘you’re looking at this?!’ We watched them experience their own paradigm shifts because they were so surprised to see us getting involved.” Though the couple says joining a network marketing company was never on their bucket list, it sure is now as Haley adds, “I can’t imagine life without it.”

Meet the Kellys: Part II

As promised, here is the second of three posts on the Kelly Family! Today, Scott and Haley Kelly–this month’s Lifemax Leader Spotlight couple–peel back the layers of success they’re currently experiencing to show some of the learning processes they went through to get them this far. Told only as this power couple can tell it, this week’s post shares interesting tips, resources, and lessons learned from their first few months of getting started with Lifemax.

The Jump

Having been chia fans since the early 2000s, Scott and Haley quickly recognized a powerful difference between Mila and regular chia which is what prompted them to get interested in Lifemax and the business model, but it was by no means a given that they would become network marketers overnight. As Haley recounts the story, “Scott is always brainstorming new ideas to enhance our business, but I sat there with my arms and legs crossed thinking, ‘Are you kidding me?’” The Kelly family’s plates were already full with two small children and a thriving business!

“This was something to explore, something we could be good at.”

“The more we discussed it, the more I realized this was something to explore, something we could be good at,” says Haley. “As I started to investigate it,” adds Scott, “I realized [this opportunity] could help with our life goals— to impact people’s health on a global level. Through workshops and teaching, we’ve been doing this for years, but it didn’t take long to see that Mila could be a strong vehicle; the quality was so much greater than anything I had ever experienced before.” Haley finishes with, “that’s when we decided to jump in.”

The Search for Success

Explaining the momentum that quickly followed their decision to join, Scott says, “It comes down to a couple things. It was the right timing, our ‘WHY’ was very powerful, and we had no doubt, no apprehension. We quickly jumped in with two feet and followed Lifemax Diamond Directors and top leaders Chris Prefontaine and Kimmy Everett. We put ourselves in their back pocket and followed their lead.”

Scott and Haley credit their quick success to being products of The System, saying, “We didn’t have time to reinvent anything, and we knew if we were going to do this, we had to plug into The System. The industry standard is to plug in and duplicate. And as Chris Prefontaine said from the start, ‘There’s a system in place. Follow The System, and I’ll coach you weekly.’” Scott and Haley did just as directed.

“It’s so fascinating to find what it takes to be successful.”

Though the Kellys give a huge, humble nod to leadership, they have put countless hours into learning the ropes themselves, becoming students of the industry and reading every recommended book they could get their hands on, such as Jordan Adler’s Beach Money, Robert Kiyosaki’s The Business of the 21st Century, Mark and Rene Reid Yarnell’s, Your First Year in Network Marketing, and Tim Ferriss’ The 4-Hour Workweek. Haley, admitting she’s come a long way since she used to figuratively “throw up on people” when introducing the opportunity, now hones her skills while listening to the weekly Go Diamond calls as she bikes to work, referring to them as “bucket-filling.” They also follow the teachings of network marketing masters Todd Falcone and Todd Smith. “Those are things we were exposed to immediately,” says Scott. “It’s so fascinating to find what it takes to be successful. Being ‘you focused’ and helping, leading, and serving your team—these are remarkable skills that, once developed, can be taken anywhere you want in life. The more I read about network marketing, the more I see how it applies to becoming successful in life itself.”

The Approach

The Kelly’s approach to network marketing shares strong similarities with the whole, well-rounded way in which they’ve conducted their wellness business over the last 18 years. From early on in his career, Scott knew better than to focus on only one aspect of his patients’ health; results were limited, and people didn’t get better. Instead, he began looking at the structural side of things to understand how a glitch in the toe can make the back hurt. His strategy has long-since been to keep pulling the lens back to find out what it takes to create health, and he’s determined that it’s a combination of what people put in their bodies, exercise, values and beliefs. Regardless of their physical health, Scott says he’s found that “people who don’t believe they can get well simply DON’T GET WELL.” That’s why his practice, Rebound Health and Performance Center, focuses on putting all wellness aspects together, offering nutritional tools, exercise, and life coaching. “We help people balance their hormones, and we work to improve everything from their immune system, digestion, and detoxification, to their emotional and structural balance,” says Scott.

“For me, it’s about sharing resources with people.”

With so much wellness experience, it’s no surprise that Scott has a long list of educational credentials following his name, but when asked why he doesn’t identify himself by using them, the couple shared a private giggle, and then Scott simply replied, “The letters after my name are for those that think they matter. For me, it’s about sharing resources with people. That is what is most important in my life.”

“When I’m speaking to someone outside of my office about Rebound,” says Scott, “I first have to understand who they are and what their needs are before I can offer them a resource. Now, we have applied that same concept to our Lifemax business. We’ve learned never to pre-judge, but rather to have a conversation about where a resource like Lifemax and Mila can be applied. Then, we just let the conversation flow from there. Understanding someone’s needs and then providing a resource starts with the ears. That’s when you get a sense of that energy exchange. It comes down to listening and being present.”

One can easily see how resource sharing and the Kelly’s approach to whole body treatment easily ties in to the Lifemax business model and the mantra of changing health and wealth, but the similarities don’t stop there. The Kelly’s final step to wellness is to build a team around their patients so if something is beyond Scott’s scope, they have a team with other practitioners in place. Not surprisingly, they put just as much emphasis on their team in their Lifemax distributorship. “It’s about giving to help others and to receive from others,” says Haley.

Meet the Kellys: Part III

This is the third and final post from December’s Leadership Spotlight on the Kelly Family. We have already heard them explain the paradigm shift they themselves experienced, as well as the shift they seek to share with everyone they meet. They’ve also shared the similarities between their approach to business both in and beyond their involvement in Lifemax. Now, let’s take a look at what makes this family tick, the sacrifices they’ve made to get this far, and their plans for the future.

The Power Partnership

Perhaps more than any other factor contributing to this couple’s success story is their partnership with one another. As Scott describes their relationship, “Haley and I have been a life-long project!” The couple has known each other since they were eight years old, but they didn’t get together until 2000. “There is no way we would be where we are if I was doing this by myself,” admits Scott. “There’s a synergy we have together; we honor each others’ strengths and use them to grow our business and to lead a team.”

“I noticed that the people in the industry having greatest success were couples.”

The Kelly’s choice to build this business together was no accident. “As I began studying,” Scott explains, “I noticed that the people in the industry having greatest success were couples. Looking back over the past few months, nothing has been more rewarding for me than to see how Haley has grown in this business and is now leading this fantastic group of people. It’s an amazing relationship-builder and a personal growth-builder for everyone.” Haley, finishing Scott’s sentence, adds, “And it’s fun!” With a background in corporate sales and an education in interpersonal communication, Haley enjoys the business because, “it’s all about people.” According to her, “We work really well together, and while that’s difficult for many, we make a good team. In fact, we were a good team until Lifemax came along, and now we’re a great team. We complement each other with our strengths, and we wouldn’t be the same—it wouldn’t be as powerful—if we were doing this alone. I think that’s what has made us so successful so quickly.”

The Sacrifice

One prospective distributor objection the Kellys have faced many times is, “I don’t have time!” It’s an all-too-familiar complaint that they themselves faced when they made the decision to get involved with Lifemax. “We didn’t have time either,” says Scott, “So we took a hard look at our inefficiencies and ‘time leaks’. We knew Lifemax had to become part of our lives, so we literally sat down and created a schedule.” The Kellys cite time blocking as a very helpful tool which allowed them to set aside time for the three most important things in their lives: Lifemax, Rebound, and family. “Time blocking helped us put the blinders on,” says Scott, “And now with Lifemax and Mila, we have created more time than we’ve ever had.” Scott and Haley started with only one-to-two hours a day, but they made those hours powerful and focused, and now the couple proudly reports, “We gave up a little bit of sleep, and we gave up inefficiency. Now, we’ve leveraged our time and expect that to only get better.”

“Not having time is only a belief.”

The Kellys enjoy helping people understand, as Scott puts it, that “Not having time is only a belief. If your ‘WHY’ is strong enough, time is created. We love that about this business. It has enabled us to do things we never imagined.” Haley agrees and adds, “I truly believe 100% we have a gift to share. People can take it or leave it, but if I don’t share it, I almost feel guilty.”

The Family Affair

As is customary for many Lifemaxers, the Kelly family considers this opportunity to be a family affair. “People have asked if we envision our boys being in the business,” says Scott. “I wish I understood the power of this business years ago!”

“I would definitely encourage my kids to be a part of this.”

Scott continues, “If I could offer one piece of advice to my kids, it would be to look at the power of this business model. It’s so much bigger than yourself and, to be successful, you have to have fantastic leadership and communication skills, you have to build rapport and relationships, and you have to know how people work. Those are the skills and qualities that build amazing world leaders and paradigm-shifters. If people could understand what’s behind the curtain of network marketing, they would be more open to taking a look at this opportunity. I would definitely encourage my kids to be a part of this.”

With big hearts, eager minds, and unending opportunity in front of them, the Kelly family is looking forward to enjoying their holiday season in true Lifemax style: with friends, family, and a whole lot of Mila.

Rachel Garcia was chosen as our Spotlight Leader because she is a consistent contributor to organizations outside of her downline by virtue of her willingness to help everyone bring Mila to the world. She is one of our top product experts in the field and a true champion for Lifemax endeavors. We hope you’ll learn a thing or two as Rachel, one of our hardest-working distributors, tells her Lifemax story below.

In August of 2008 I was 30 lbs overweight, working 10-12 hour days as a Physician’s Assistant in a busy dermatology office, the brand new owner of a skincare retail store and the mother of 2 little boys ages 9 months and 3 years, and I was a mess. I, as many women in this country, had gotten myself into a trap. I made a consistent 6 figure income working as a PA but never had time with my children. My husband and I had developed a certain lifestyle for ourselves which was based on a two income household. I knew that I needed to be spending more time at home with my boys focusing on their nutrition and just being with them but I couldn’t with my busy job and I saw no way out. I had every single book that Robert Kiyosaki had ever written in my library, knew all about the woes of being an employee and was sick of working my tail off to make someone else money, thus the decision to invest in my own skin care retail store with $25,000 in August of 2008. When my brothers asked me to give them my advice on a whole raw food packed with Omega 3s, I begrudgingly started to examine Mila. After doing a huge amount of research on Mila, I joined Lifemax as a distributor the same month that I started my skin care store.

Eight months later the dermatology office that I had worked in for four years was closing because the owner of the practice (also my business partner) was moving and I was looking at starting out all over again in another office. It was then that my accountant asked me what Lifemax was. Under my breath, preparing myself for his reaction I said “It’s network marketing”, he said “whatever it is you have made more money with this than you have with your 25K investment in the skincare store, how hard do you work at it?” Up until this point in April of 2009 I had sold A LOT of Mila, I had signed some distributors up but definitely had not been working the business. When my accountant, who sees everyone’s bank accounts, encouraged me to focus on my network marketing business, it changed my whole outlook on Lifemax. I went home and prayed about not taking another full time job and felt strongly that I was supposed to focus on my Lifemax business. I wanted to know why everyone runs the other way when you say “network marketing” and I wanted to do it differently. I have spent the last 17 months, doing it differently.

When I picked up Kiyosaki’s new book The Business of the 21st Century earlier this year and realized that I finally have that large business I had always wanted, I was shocked. What an amazing contrast, to have started a skin care retail store with $25,000 the exact same month that I started my Lifemax business for under $4,000. Now two years later, I have had employees and lost employees with the skin care store. I have had a location and lost a location with the skin care store. I carry around skincare products in my car and have to keep track of inventory, taxes and endless paperwork with my skin care store. With Lifemax, I have over 800 people working with me in 4 different countries; no inventory to carry around, very little paperwork and I am continuously making 3-4 times the amount of money I make monthly with the skin care store. Wow!!

If you had asked me in 2008 what I would be doing at the age of 40, I would have said, “seeing 40-50 patients per day in a dermatology office.” I saw no way out; there was no hope for me to get out of the rat race I was in. I can tell you now that I will NEVER see 40-50 patients per day again. I am working 10 hours per week seeing patients and spend the rest of my time building my Lifemax business and spending time with my family. I can now take my children to school and take Fridays off if I want to (that doesn’t happen in a cosmetic dermatology office). This is truly the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Every morning I wake up and ask God whose life I can help change today and a life is truly changed in this business every single day. Why do 1 out of 3 children in America eat fast food every day? Because the moms are working!!! We don’t have time to cook meals because we are working so hard to keep up with the bills. What if we can make our children healthier AND change their home life by giving them their mothers back? Talk about changing the health and wealth of the world!!!

My story is different than many of the others you have read in that I did not make hundreds of thousands of dollars in my first year with Lifemax, mine is a story of perseverance and commitment. I am not going to tell you that every day is easy, but I will tell you that if you set your goals and you commit to working at least a little bit every single day at this business and NEVER GIVE UP, you cannot fail!! I run two businesses, see patients, am a wife, and a mother to two young children and I am here to tell you that you can do this. It is okay if you don’t make a lot of money in the first few months or even in the first year, just stick with it. Understand that this business is all about doing the little things over and over and over again and then teaching others to do the same thing. Remember that we are not distributing laundry detergent, or a juice with antioxidants, we are sharing a whole raw food that is changing lives all over the world and if you don’t quit you cannot fail. It doesn’t get much better than that. I truly believe that we have all been given a gift, a gift that we must share with others.

My tips for a successful business? If you are a prayer, pray over your business every single day just like you pray over your children. Pray for divine appointments, if you pray for them He will bring them to you. Find something that keeps you motivated. When I have a bad day (and we all have those days) I just look at my nephew Bo. His mother was told three years ago that he was severely autistic, 70% developmentally delayed and would never be in a school that was not for autistic children. (We aren’t making any medical claims, I am just telling you what happened.) After three months on Mila his teachers said it was like he came out of a fog. Bo just finished his third week of kindergarten in a mainstream public elementary school with no other autistic children. Bo and my sister’s lives were forever changed because of Mila. I don’t care how many nos I have to hear, I am going to scream about Mila from the rooftops because it is changing lives all over the world every single day, whose life can you change??

In March of 2009 my husband, Cully, and I made a decision to put our home on the market as we, like so many others, had been adversely affected by the economy. This was not a move we were thrilled about but is what we needed to do. We were introduced to Lifemax that spring and joined the company in May and have never looked back.

Although the business potential was what first interested me in Lifemax, I would not have joined the company had I not felt passionately about Mila. Not only have people in my own family received amazing health benefits, but I continue to hear new stories every day that fuel my excitement and passion. Lives have truly been changed through eating this food. The stories I hear are powerful and moving and if you stay with us long enough, you will hear them, too. Or perhaps you already have your own story to share…

The money that we have earned has also been incredible. For most of my life I have been an independent contractor in the field of corporate training, executive coaching and teambuilding. I have enjoyed working with people and helping them to work together more effectively, and am grateful for all I have learned. However, the availability of this work has been inconsistent, never quite giving me the opportunity to create a steady income or to hone my skills in a way that was meaningful to me. With Lifemax, my income is not only steady, but growing all the time. I am confident and passionate about working with other distributors and prospects. I believe in what I do and in what I have to offer. And, the love and support I get in return is unparalleled for me in my work life. That has been such a gift.

Which brings me to the concept of community. Being an independent contractor, I had communities of people with whom I worked, but often saw them once or twice a year. In Lifemax, I have made many new friends and have re-connected with or re-energized friendships I already had, and I get to do this again and again every day. We support each other, cheer each other on, learn from and teach one another. Amazing people are drawn to this work, and I think especially to this company and this product. This work is not for everyone, but for those who stick around, there is so much to gain. My new favorite saying is “I don’t stick with the winners, I win with the stickers.” So for all of you stickers out there, I’m sure I’ll be seeing you around real soon!

Finally, I am grateful for the love and continued support that I get every day from my husband, Cully and my son, Austin. I hear over and over again how fortunate I am to have the support of those I love the most, and believe me, I know! Unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky, and that makes the road so much harder. I must confess that I can be a bit of a workaholic. (My father would be so proud as he knew full well the excitement of loving what you do!) Since I really do love this work, there are times when I can (and sometimes do) work all day long and well into the night. Cully and Austin are endlessly patient with me, make me laugh, and every now and then drag me away from my office and out to dinner and a movie! So thank you both for reminding me about the importance of having balance in my life.

Oh, and I almost forgot to say that we took our house off the market last summer and live there very happily and comfortably now! Thanks to Lifemax. One day soon, you can come and visit us in our dream apartment in Paris. But that is another story…

After working alongside several other Lifemax leaders to host our first Go Diamond event last month in Hawaii, Kimmy is back to business (we don’t think she ever rests!) We caught up with Kimmy and asked her to share some of the wisdom that has made her so successful as a Lifemax distributor. Take a few moments to read her Go Diamond DOs and DON’Ts, and you can be on your path to Diamond Director, too!

5 Go Diamond DOs

1. Choose success. Failure is not an option. When things get tough, remember why Lifemax spoke to you initially and recommit yourself every time you hit a bump in the road to choosing success.
2. Read everything you can get your hands on! “Beach Money” by Jordan Adler, “45-second Presentation” by Don Failla, “Your First Year in Network Marketing” by Mark and Renee Yarnell, and all of John Maxwell’s books. Never stop educating yourself as you grow in this business.
3. Run with leaders. Surround yourself with winners! We are the company we keep.
4. Focus on building the checks of those in your downline and your check will grow too.
5. Continuously work on being the very best YOU! Personal growth will be the golden ticket to your success.

5 Go Diamond DON’Ts

1. Don’t take cheap advice. Never listen to those who have either failed in the industry or have no experience in the industry! Seek the advice of those who are successful!
2. Don’t create your own system. Follow the system that’s in place and stay right on the center line.
3. Don’t compare yourself to others; it will only slow you down. Stay focused on your goals, not someone else’s.
4. Don’t get attached to the outcome of a prospect. If timing is right for them, great! If not, that’s ok too, simply move on.
5. Don’t say too much! Get your prospect to the message. Don’t try to be the message. It will only hurt you!

About Kimmy Everett:

On June 1st 2009, my life changed in a way I never expected it to. I was working as a fundraiser in a private school in Honolulu, Hawaii and pretty much expected to be there for the next 15 years of my life. But on that day, I became a distributor with Lifemax, and I’ve never looked back.

For the first month with the company I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and I remember vividly the day I was put in touch with Chris Prefontaine towards the end of June. He sent me an email that helped me shift my whole perception of how to run my business. This is now known as the infamous “getting started” email.

I followed every step suggested on that email. I tapped into all the trainings suggested, I read all the books listed, I became a sponge.

People will often ask, “How did you achieve your success?” and I tell them there are a few key components.

First, I believed in Mila wholeheartedly because of my own personal experience from eating it. That belief was evident to everyone I began to share it with, and share it with EVERYONE, I did.

Second, I was willing to follow the steps exactly that were suggested to me by Lifemax Independent Distributor Chris Prefontaine. I’d like to send out a special thanks to Chris for all he has done for my team and me. I would not have gotten to where I am without him!

Third, I had tremendous support from both Todd, my boyfriend, and Hailey, my daughter, that allowed me to take the risk of quitting a very stable job to be able to go for this 100%! Without that support it would have been very difficult to get to where I am now.

And lastly, I have been very fortunate to have built a team full of incredible leaders. Each person on my team comes to the table with their unique strengths and together we have created an amazing, powerful group of people who support each other and encourage each other to grow and succeed. My success is truly a reflection of all of those on my team.

I am excited every day to see what unfolds with this new adventure and I am so thankful to be a part of the Lifemax family!

Lifemax: Terri, you have been with Lifemax since the beginning. Can you tell us a little about your background and why you chose to get involved with Lifemax?

Terri: My background previous to Lifemax was Corporate America. I worked 12 years for 2 of the largest companies in the United States, and was top in the industry. I made a strong 6-figure annual income. At some point of your life, you ask yourself if the money is worth it, and if you are really enjoying what you are doing to the fullest. In the corporate world, you are told how to do it, when to do it, and why to do it. I knew the flexibility inherent to the network marketing industry could allow me to own my own time.

Lifemax: It is an amazing industry and a lucrative opportunity for anyone who works as hard as you do, Terri! So, since you started your own Lifemax business, have you reached your goals?

Terri: Absolutely! In a short 1 ½ years, I have replaced that income with a very strong business by helping others achieve their goals and dreams–whether they choose health or wealth.

Lifemax: You sound like a woman on a mission! It is inspiring to hear how your goal of helping others has resulted in personal success. Other than helping others and maintaining the income to which you had grown accustomed, is there any other way in which Lifemax has affected your life?

Terri: Lifemax is allowing me to live out one of my dreams. I was not able to travel extensively with my previous career. My Lifemax business has grown to the extent that I have now been able to travel to over four different countries. I feel as though I’m living out my goals and dreams, and could not imagine my life without Lifemax.

Lifemax: Thank you, Terri, for sharing your story with us. Any last words?

Terri: I would just like to thank Lifemax Founders Jim and Sherri Wear and the corporate staff for believing in me.
