Nine Things You Can Do to Create More Accountability and Catapult Your Business Into 2010
1. Post your schedule and tell everyone about it. Visual and subconscious and build in accountability when you do this. I let family and anyone I interact with know what the schedule is so (a) certain time blocks are not interrupted and so that (b) everyone knows that the schedule supports the desired outcome as a group/team.
2. Establish accountability partners I have one for reading, one for working out and one for general goals. You can even have kids and/or spouse help hold you accountable and reward them for doing so.
3. Display a goal chart at home for the family to get involved. When our kids were younger we even had them make poster board size goal charts for themselves and we did for ourselves as well. We shared all of our goals with each other.
4. Pay someone if you don’t do your required daily sifting. I’m not talking about a lot of money – it’s the accountability piece that works. For example, if you have a goal to hand out 3cd’s daily and you don’t, you have to pay your assistant or someone $1 or $5 or something that will hammer home the accountability.
5. Let someone shadow you. You will tend to perform better when someone is watching you.
6. Post your daily income goal where you can see it. You can even break it down to hourly. This will assist you in staying focused on high payoff activities. I have index cards that have an hourly rate written on it at my office.
7. Start every day at zero. You come out of the gate strong. For example, don’t get caught up in management mode in your business. Start the day as if you were brand new and expose the business 3x.
8. Put yourself in a situation where you don’t have a choice. After 1 year of transition, I went full time in Lifemax. After 2 months of transition, Kimmy Everett went full time and left her job behind. She didn’t keep one foot on first base and hope to get to second – she leaped.
9. Don’t “try something” guys – commit to 100% laser beam focus. Don’t look back, don’t look down, don’t look up- look straight ahead at your goals and follow your coach and/or mentor with blind faith.
Power of the Organizer
Happy December!
As we are rolling into year end, I started thinking about the Power of the Organizer. All successful people I’ve had the pleasure of shadowing, coaching or simply speaking to have one common thread – they are great organizers.
Organizers of resources, people, time, money, energy, etc.. Today more than ever the Power of the Organizer is much more important than a lot of other traits. This is mainly because the cost of doing business everywhere has really increased: the cost to pay help, to do mailings, etc…the cost just to operate.
Tom Monohan of Dominos Pizza was quoted saying “You know we could have 9,000 units instead of 3,000 units just as easily. The only thing stopping us is we can’t get anybody to work to deliver the pizzas.”
When I ran across that quote it made me think a little about all of the ventures that Kim and I have been involved in over the years compared to Lifemax. … some with only minimal to no results.
In the real estate business we were teaching others what we know in the residential investment field. We had 3-5 of us working on it and we were able to sell our services (coaching, really) to a few individuals and it was just OK. Now, that sucked up inordinate amounts of time and resources and I would say we were not in the Power Organizer category.
Now with Lifemax we have a team of about 7600 people from all around the world that have been tirelessly working on a common mission – when rolled out- will dwarf anything that we had originally tried to do. Well, I cannot take any credit for it and can only point to the team leaders and the systems that are in place now compared to July ’09 – that are super organized.
It’s a game plan Guys that does not allow us to waste any resources whatsoever and remains extremely organized.
See, the Power of the Organizer is not to be taken lightly. When you look at your day right now, are you maximizing absolutely every resource…or are some being wasted? Are you super organized? Are you engaged ONLY in high payoff activities?
I.e. Real Estate: prospecting, follow up, listing appointments, etc.. In Lifemax, it’s sharing Mila and www.WhatIfLifemax.com in a manner and capacity that supports your goals (2/day, 3/day, 5/day), it’s presenting (1/1, 2/1, webinars, in homes), follow up, learning skills, etc..
THINK HUGE!
Network Marketing Facts
I wanted to throw up some basic facts as you guys know I’m pretty transparent with both the good and the challenging – always good to know what you’re up against.
Fact is that the Network marketing industry has created more millions than any other industry.
95% of those who survive 10 years become wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. Why do some individuals and companies not make it? Simply because the 5 key elements are not perfectly in place. To learn more about the 5 elements don’t miss the live webinars http://www.mylifemax.net/category/webinars/
There is a learning curve that takes place in the business that is only between 1 and 2 years. Now two things are unique with that: (1) You get paid while you learn, and (2) compare that to Doctors or any other professional where you don’t normally get paid while you learn and most of those other professions will come with caps to earnings. Network Marketing offers zero caps- zero guys, come on – where else can you get that?
Any commission structure on the planet (real estate, insurance, automobiles, etc) carries with it an attrition rate of about 60%. It’s all about managing expectations. Don’t expect money to pour out of the faucet day #1. Work with focused energy with a leader who knows how to show you the way and you’ll be set for life. Know that the first year you will feel inadequately compensated for your efforts; the second year you will feel adequately compensated; In the 3rd year you will feel like, WOW, there is nothing else I could do that would pay me as well as this.
We all have 168 hours in our week. Why don’t you engage in something that will give you the largest return both short and long term?

8 Things You Can Do to Jump Start Your Day
1. Meditate and visualize your goals. This can be done while working out, before starting your work day and/or before going to sleep at night.
2. Work out and/or exercise some how daily. This creates more discipline and more energy to accomplish your goals while lowering your stress. It doesn’t have to be intense, just get your blood flowing! Walk, swim, intramural sports, etc.
3. Review your life plan and business plan daily (4-5 minutes minimum). Of course, this requires you to have one first.
4. Read something inspirational. There are several thousand incredible books out to keep you motivated, focused and on task. You can start with the list right on the blog at www.Live2TheMax.net
5. Listen to something motivational. This can also be done while working out and while driving in your car. Keep cd’s on all the time. Your automobile is literally a university if you choose to take advantage of it. I’m currently going through the new Tony Robbins program- “Get the Edge”
6. Do affirmations out loud. You can even take it to the next level and create your own affirmations tape. Affirmations are extremely powerful and all successful people take advantage of their use. Two fabulous books to get you started with affirmations are “Affirmations …101 Secrets to Your Daily Success” by my friend John Alexandrov and “What to Say When You Talk to Yourself” by Shad Helmsedder.
7. Go to lunch at the same time daily and eat something designed to give you some energy for the afternoon. How many of you drag in the afternoon? There’s no need for it. A Mila smoothy or protein drink with Mila in it is my choice late afternoon and a light salad with some protein for lunch.
8. Visualize starting each day when you wake up as if you’re unemployed in the sense of income generation. Do something productive or waste the day.
Discipline and Goals
What new disciplines could you start acting on tomorrow that you know would improve your business and/or life, but you haven’t done yet?
It’s important to realize that what we do today has a direct relationship with the results we get tomorrow.
What is discipline to you?
The definition of discipline is an activity, exercise or regimen that develops or improves a skill; training.
My tweak on the definition is doing the things daily that you know you should…even when you don’t feel like it and even when you don’t see immediate results. This doesn’t always come easy. It requires a huge amount of patience. Sometimes the steady and consistent disciplines feel like they’re not working as fast as you’d like.
If you step back, you’ll notice that there’s an important common denominator with successful people – they all form habits or disciplines. They continually do the necessary tasks that others don’t want to do or give up on.
I’m constantly working on adding new and better disciplines. Honing your skills and growing into a successful business person is a work in progress…it’s an ongoing process.
Another thing to think about is how you’ll get rid of your bad habits. You can’t expect to change overnight as you don’t develop habits (good or bad) overnight.
With Lifemax, here are some disciplines you can specifically do to boost your business:
• Introduce the business to three people a day – if you’re already at three a day, then raise your bar!
• Role play, use scripts, or practice with script partners
• Send a daily recap to your upline
• Work on your WHY every day
• Start reading and working on your mind – try reading 10 minutes per night”– if you are already– raise the bar.
• If you currently get up and go eat breakfast or grab coffee, change your habit and work out and then have a fruit smoothie with Mila in it (do it for at least 20 days!)
Start with small tweaks. Don’t overwhelm yourself and create goals you’re not going to follow through on. Don’t beat yourself up saying I’m going to call 20 people tomorrow. Start something that is consistent and achievable but slightly beyond your comfort zone. What can you tackle today?
How about if you add one new discipline per month for the next 12 months? What would happen to your business? Your life?
Those that are succeeding in network marketing have simply decided to do some things that others are not.
Very few people realize that success is within their reach – your success is certainly determined by your daily agenda!
Life goals are reached by setting annual goals, which are reached by daily, which in turn are reached by YOUR DAILY DISCIPLINES!
Think about it numerically. If you speak to three people per day, for about 200 work days, that’s 600 people! Do you think someone in there wants to improve their life?
There are a few key things in learning new disciplines:
1. You cannot manage or improve what you cannot measure -so track it (calls, reading – chart it!) WHAT WE TRACK GROWS!
2. You’ll never change your business or your life until you change something you do today. What ONE can you start?
WHAT DISCIPLINE WILL YOU COMMIT TO STARTING TOMORROW?
